A System To Organize Your Move
The Moving Dilemma: Finding What You Packed!
What’s one of the most frustrating things about moving? (Besides unpacking everything, of course.)
Trying to remember what you packed in which box!
After twelve moves (so far), we’ve had plenty of moments—sometimes years after a move—where we’ve stood in front of a stack of still-sealed boxes in the basement, wondering, What on earth did we put in that one?
Or worse, when you’re desperately searching for that one special serving dish from your old dining room, only to find yourself digging through umpteen boxes with no luck.
I think I’ve found a way to make this easier—and I plan to test it in real time.
My system? Using MYLIO, PHOTOMYNE, and TURBOSCAN to photograph and document items, then assigning them to a Box Number in Mylio. So far, I’ve cataloged three boxes, and it looks promising!
Of course, if I hit roadblocks or get overwhelmed, I’ll share that too. My goal is to make moving (and storing) easier—for you, or for a loved one you may be helping. So I invite you to follow along!
P.S. I hate moving. But for those who know my story, my wife is in long-term hospitalization, and I want to move closer to where she is now living.
So, if I have to go through this process, I might as well turn it into a learning experience!
I’d love to hear your thoughts—drop a comment and let me know what you think.
